# Old sites

> I've had websites since I was a kid, starting on Geocities (unfortunately lost to the sands of time) and Expage. I never kept backups but the Wayback Machine kept some of them. Each screenshot is rebuilt from the archived HTML, with whatever images and iframes the archive still has.

## expage.com/harrypotterhype (2002)

A Dutch Harry Potter fan site on Expage, the free homepage builder. It had a Sorting Hat, a Quidditch quiz and a weekly newsletter you could sign up for by owl.

### 2002-03-23: Harry Potter

A guestbook, a forum, a Mini Quiz, and a visitor counter at 705.

> Heb je een opmerking of een vraag? Stuur dan een Uilmailtje naar Perkamentus. Deze site heeft niks te maken met Warner Bros.

### 2003-11-05: De Middagprofeet

> Je wil als Dreuzel natuurlijk wel weten wat er gebeurt in de tovenaarswereld. Stuur een uil-mailtje met je e-mail adres om wekelijks de Middagprofeet te ontvangen met het laatste nieuws over Harry Potter!

## foot-loose.org (2003–2004)

My first domain, bought in May 2003, using my uncle's creditcard (these were rare in the Netherlands at the time). I made a new layout every few weeks. This one is absolutely positioned on a 7pt Tahoma page (a11y was not a thing), with a Greymatter blog in an iframe. I hosted friends' sites on it too, and a collective called Discopunk. After I let the domain registry lapse, someone started using it to sell heated socks.

### 2003-10-02: You're something beautiful (a contradiction)

Black page, blue links, and the blog and sidebar in two see-through iframes.

In Internet Explorer, filter:chroma made one colour see-through.

```
<iframe name="gm" width=204 height=220 style="filter:chroma(color=#10416E);" marginwidth = "0" marginheight = "0"
src="http://www.foot-loose.org/cgi-bin/?" frameborder=0></iframe>
```

### 2003-10-10: ....!

> I do not like this site anymore. My "love" for it will probably come back, but till then I will be blogging here: egotripper.org/plastic.

Coloured scrollbars, which only Internet Explorer understood.

```
  scrollbar-face-color: #C1EBFF;
  scrollbar-highlight-color: #ffffff;
  scrollbar-3dlight-color: #000000;
  scrollbar-shadow-color: #000000;
  scrollbar-darkshadow-color: #C1EBFF;
  scrollbar-arrow-color: #000000;
  scrollbar-track-color: #C1EBFF;
}
```

### 2003-10-22: (W A V E103)

This one had a webcam popup that faded in on hover, thanks to a Dynamic Drive script whose credit had to stay intact.

The fade script, and the webcam button it ran on.

### 2004-03-01: coooocaine rodeo.

Just a "moved" button, pointing to suckerlove.org.

## suckerlove.org (2004–2007)

A personal blog, named after a line in Placebo's Every You Every Me. It started in English with a Greymatter blog, and ended up in Dutch on WordPress. After I let the domain lapse it became a Japanese spam site.

### 2004-03-01: I just like the things you do.

Gray Georgia, an image map, and a "i'm in ravenclaw!" badge from a sorting quiz.

### 2004-04-18: hold your breath and count to ten

> Gone for now. Visit my new "project" XD, Jupiter Jazz …

### 2004-05-22: Jou wanna waste my time? Okay.

> new layout! i saw Scarface yesterday and I LOVED it, so I made a layout featuring Tony Montana, who happens to be hot sex u_u … I need a host. lol. I have 3 euros.

The top of the sidebar.

```
<table cellpadding="0" border="0" width="100%" align="center" bgcolor="transparent"
cellspacing="1" font color="class1" class="class1"><td bgcolor="transparent">»»» <b>REQUIREMENTS</b></tr></td></class></font></table>
PHP enabled browser (IE), 1024x768 screen resolution, Verdana, love for Tony Montana..or Al Pacino.
Or me. Whatever.
```

### 2004-06-12: lolZ.

> omg coming soon o_o I need to reinstall stuff (I changed hosts =D).

### 2004-08-13: suckerlove.org

This layout featured Maximus from Gladiator. In the same month my computer crashed and I lost everything, and my online friend Daniel sent me Photoshop, Illustrator and Flash.

### 2004-09-17: suckerlove.org

The first post on the new layout. I have no idea what FCORE means..

> Yay new layout! Robert says I use that picture of Christian Bale way too much, but it's FCORE so it's ok ;)

### 2004-10-23: JALOUX; custom design&coding

A tiny design studio on jaloux.suckerlove.org, run with Daniël from August 2004. Layouts, LiveJournal coding and MovableType installs, paid by PayPal. I don't think we ever made a single cent.

> We try to keep our prices the lowest of the lowest, our services will have a maximum price of $1.25, including layouts, coding and customizing.

### 2004-11-29: I have to get into a bar. Everything fun in life happens in bars.

> 15, from Amsterdam, the Netherlands. 5'6". Lazy. Unmotivated. Loves Head Automatica, Glassjaw, The Smiths, The Robot Ate Me, The Faint, The Killers, The Postal Service.

### 2004-12-17: see you at the bitter end.

### 2005-01: laugh until september

### 2005-01-30: what's new for the fall?

> New domain coming soon (I hope).

### 2006-07-14: Oh lovely summer, how I try to enjoy thee!

Back, on WordPress, and blogging in Dutch now.

> Ik heb geen zin om te updaten/bloggen aangezien ik héél druk bezig ben met mijn LiveJournal layout, maar ik doe het toch maar want ik vind het zelf zo vervelend als mensen nooit hun site updaten.

### 2007-01-03: the drugs don't make me high, they make me neutral

> Ik heb geld! Ik ga morgen de stad in! Ik ga morgen kleren kopen! Omg!

## trigger-joy.net (2004)

Justine gave me this domain for my icons and so-called art, while the blog stayed on suckerlove.org. It ran on b2 and had three layouts in two months, the last turning it into an LJ icon collective. By the end of September it said Coming up, and by December it was parked.

### 2004-07-30: (unwind)

> FINALLY! I opened this thing up ;D Everything is done, yay. There aren't many icons yet, but I'm still adding icons every time I can. Anyways, I hope you enjoy everything and don't forget to visit Justine since she gave me this domain =333

### 2004-08-02: (unwind)

Navigation was the numbers 1 to 5 in the header.

> New layout! I really like it =) It features Thursday, lalalala. I'm going to bed now, I'll put up more icons later.

### 2004-08-29: (unwind)

> This is Nienke's lj icon collective. If you want to read my blog or see some visitor's content I suggest you go to suckerlove.org.

## stereofrequency.org/noise (2004)

A photolog on my friend Robert's domain. It had three sets: The Dam, The Killers and Jansen.

### 2004-11-17: NOISE !!

> Opened up /noise as my photolog. My personal site moved back to suckerlove.org because I suck :(

## hellomannequin.org (2005)

My domain after suckerlove, registered on 18 April 2005 and named after a Joy Electric song. It was a portfolio and blog, hosted first by Gaby and later by Travis, and I hosted friends on it too. By early 2006 it was an empty cPanel page.

### 2005-04-27: *HM.ORG coward, the next time you want to fuck me over stab me in the front

> First blog on my new domain! It's hosted by Gaby, go give her lots of love <3 Anyhow, I have been out of this whole website thing for way too long and I need people to link!

### 2005-08-26: HELLOMANNEQUIN (when one eight becomes two zeros)

> I got a pocket diary (agenda?) yesterday and I "customized" it.

### 2005-12-12: hello, mannequin

> I forgot to tell: October 12 was my 16th birthday and I got a Creative Zen Micro which I named Vladimir (after the Russian president).

## paranoiattack.org (2005)

My portfolio, in Dutch, for everything I'd made in the two years before. It had skins you could switch between, and was made for Internet Explorer 5.5 at 1024x768.

### 2005-04-04: PARANOIATTACK.ORG™ ( no girl's just like me. )

> Welkom op mijn portfolio, hier kun je de dingen vinden die ik heb gemaakt in een periode van meer dan twee jaar.

## sharks.ghostanatomy.org (2006)

A subdomain Malene hosted for me, named after a Test Icicles song, with a Greymatter blog. After this one I wanted to blog in Dutch, so I bought suckerlove.org back. The $x signs you see in front of the text are the amount of comments.

### 2006-08-20: terror at the bay

> Shall I switch to WordPress? I installed it yesterday and I love the features and plugins and such, but I've grown so attached to Greymatter! I've been using it for like, three years. I'm also thinking of making a Dutch blogsite.

## wakeupsleepyhead.org (2007)

An English WordPress blog, back on my own domain after a while on LiveJournal. Its Website page lists every domain before it, and calls it my millionth website.

### 2007-03-24: Wake up, sleepyhead.

> Look, I made a new layout. I like it, I just hope it's not too light. I added some cool quotes from The Office to the footer. The coding of this theme took forever though but it was fun to do. I quite like coding, actually.

### 2007-05-28: Why do titles have to be so big in web2.0? It's annoying.

No page title on this one, so the heading is the latest post's.

> Wake up, sleepyhead is my millionth website and I'd like to think of it as a fresh start, but it never is.

## airlocklove.com (2008)

One page, with Battlestar Galactica in the header. It had a folder of fan images, an archive of the icons I made for LiveJournal, a contact form and a random quote.

### 2008-04-08: airlock love

> Nienke, 18, Europe. Fan of Arrested Development, Battlestar Galactica, Dexter + The Office. Loves Hong Kong, pop culture, Stockholm, humming that watchtower song, Brick Tamland, reading.

## chocolatebeforedinner.com (2009–2013)

Less a site than a landing page: a quote, a line about me, and links to my LiveJournal, icons, gifs and recipe lists. My LiveJournal header linked to it as Bob Loblaw Law Blog.

### 2010-03-30: As if I'm gonna start eating chocolate.

> The background you're looking at right now is of Dr. Jack Shepard beaten to a pulp whilst trying to detonate a hydrogen bomb on a mysterious island somewhere in the Pacific. This layout went live on January 30th, 2010.

### 2011-02-02: chocolate before dinner

It stayed like this until 2013.

> Student, amateur web designer, professional fangirl, LiveJournal.

## sevenhells.tumblr.com (2011–2015)

My Tumblr, mostly reblogged gifsets from Sherlock, Game of Thrones, Battlestar Galactica, Lost and Luther. I later renamed it to shinyhats, one of my usernames, and someone else has had sevenhells since 2020. I think I used the name Helena here to make it less obvious I was Dutch?

### 2013-03-19: she looks like 22 but she's really 45

> helena | 20s | europe | stan for a day. Cylons, gunslingers, weirwoods, browncoats, observers, (consulting) detectives, polar bears, superheroes and biker gangs

## nienke.io (2015–2018)

My first developer domain. It started as a Ghost blog on blog.nienke.io, then became a homepage for my side projects: Gif Vault, Media in 2016 and Stupid Hackathon. From 2018 it showed the same site as nienkedekker.com.

### 2016-01-24: + blog.nienke.io

A post about getting Ghost to run on port 80.

### 2016-08-04: nienke.io

> I like tea and travel. I'm also an aspiring front-end developer living in Amsterdam. I sometimes organize things (Stupid Hackathon AMS, meetups) and if you're into cults, I'll have you know I'm a Level 4 Local Guide.

### 2017-09-25: hello!

Same layout a year later, now with a job.

> I work as a junior front-end developer at TransIP. HTML5 and CSS3 are my true loves.

## stupidhackathon.wtf (2016–2018)

Stupid Hackathon Amsterdam, a one-day event for making projects with no value whatsoever. I organised it with Stephanie, and with Derek the first year. There were three, and at the first one I made Geolize.css with Stephanie.

### 2016-09-01: STUPID HACKATHON AMSTERDAM

> Geolize.css by Nienke and Stephanie. Geolize is a lightweight CSS reset that renders standard HTML and CSS elements like it's 1999.

### 2017-07-24: STUPID HACKATHON AMS

> If you'd rather lone wolf it, that's totally fine too. And there will be no prizes, because everyone who participates in a Stupid Hackathon is winning hugely already

### 2018-07-15: STUPID HACKATHON AMSTERDAM

The third and last one.

> Join us for the third edition of Stupid Hackathon Amsterdam: a one-day, small-batch artisanal event where participants conceptualize and create projects that have no value whatsoever, organized by Stephanie and Nienke.

## nienkedekker.com (2018–2020)

My name as a domain, until this one. It said the same thing in every layout: frontend developer from Amsterdam, working at the NOS, with a link to what.pm.

### 2019-01-25: Nienke Dekker

> My name is Nienke Dekker, and I'm a frontend developer from Amsterdam. I sometimes organize things, like the Stupid Hackathon Amsterdam. I work at the NOS, focusing on creating clean, compliant and performant code.

### 2019-11-17: My name is Nienke Dekker,

No page title on this one, so the heading is the page's own.

> Some technologies I've recently worked with are Vue, Node, TypeScript, and the JAMstack. I'm also interested in domain driven design principles and patterns and how they can be applied to frontend software engineering.

### 2020-09-20: Nienke Dekker

Rebuilt with Nuxt, shortly before nienke.dev.

> 🚧 I'M REDOING THIS SITE, if you run into issues please do not let me know 😗️💕😃

## nienke.dev (2020–now)

The domain I moved to in August 2020. It was built with Nuxt, rebuilt with Next.js in November 2023, and has been Astro since December 2025, which is the version you're reading.

### 2020-08-08: Nienke Dekker

> My name is Nienke Dekker, and I'm a frontend developer from Amsterdam. I work at the NOS, focusing on creating clean and performant code.

### 2022-07-29: Nienke Dekker

> I'm a software developer from Amsterdam. I work at Daily! 🤙 You can find me on Twitter or GitHub. My forever side project is what.pm.

### 2025-01-21: Nienke Dekker

> I'm a software developer based in Amsterdam. I've been building websites all my life.
